Respect the difference between level and volume controls. Level controls are used to adjust the gain level of elements in the mix but are not intended to be used as a master “volume control”. Learn and adhere to the limits of the media you are using. Today that is mostly digital and digital gets big time ugly when you violate the rules. If your truly concerned for the music sake you will avoid the destruction that occurs when you try to push the levels inside the digital environment beyond it’s capabilities. To turn the volume up on a mix one should learn to use the speaker volume control, not a mix bus fader.
